Preparation

1
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yogurt and yeast mixture. Mix well.

3
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until soft and smooth. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.

4
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

5
Divide the dough into 4 equal-sized portions. Preheat a non-stick pan over medium heat.

6
Take one portion of dough and roll it into a circle of about 1/4 inch thickness.

7
Sprinkle sesame seeds on one side of the naan and press them gently with your fingers so they stick.

8
Place the naan on the heated pan, sesame side down. Cook for about 2 minutes until it puffs up and turns golden brown.

9
Flip the naan and cook the other side for another 2 minutes. Repeat with the remaining dough portions.

10
Brush the cooked naans with clarified butter or vegetable oil. Serve hot.
