In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions, gram flour, rice flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander leaves, curry leaves, and salt.

Mix well until all the ingredients are coated and the onions release some moisture.

Gradually add water to make a thick batter, making sure the onions are well coated.

Heat oil in a deep-frying pan over medium heat.

Drop small portions of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy. Fry in batches for even cooking.

Remove the pakodas from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a kitchen towel to drain excess oil.

Serve hot with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
