A traditional Bengali fish curry made with Hilsa fish

Preparation: cleaned and cut into pieces

Preparation

Heat mustard oil in a deep pan or kadai.

Add nigella seeds and let them splutter.

Add the slit green chilies and sauté for a minute.

Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.

Add the cleaned and cut Hilsa fish pieces. Coat them well with the spices.

Cook on medium heat for a few minutes, stirring gently.

Add water and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
