Preparation

Heat oil in a kadai or a deep pan.

Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add the ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.

Now add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala. Mix well.

Add the mutton pieces and mix until they are well coated with the masala.

Cover the pan and cook on low heat for about 30-40 minutes or until the mutton is tender, stirring occasionally.

Once the mutton is cooked, remove the lid and cook on medium heat until the masala thickens and coats the mutton pieces.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice, roti, or naan.
