Traditional Indian Bread made from Wheat Flour

Preparation

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour and salt.

2. Gradually add water to the mixture and knead it into a smooth dough.

3. Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into balls.

4. Roll out each ball of dough into a thin circle using a rolling pin.

5. Heat a tawa or a flat griddle on medium-high heat.

6. Place the rolled dough on the hot tawa and cook for about 30 seconds or until bubbles start to form on the surface.

7. Flip the phulka and cook the other side for another 30 seconds.

8. Remove the phulka from the tawa and place it directly on an open flame for a few seconds to puff up.

9. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
